Abstract

The data on the advance of cancer in the young population is alarming. This article focuses on adolescents and young adults (AYA) who are cancer sick or survivors in the university environment. The paper begins by offering data on the increase of the incidence of various types of cancer in this group; secondly, the social stigma associated with the disease is analyzed, which, on many occasions, leads young people to hide the diagnosis in their school phase for fear of rejection and misunderstanding. Finally, the specific needs of this group are analyzed, and how university institutions can help young people to continue or resume their training by providing the support they need.
