Klaus Mundt (2025). Teaching the Translation of Cultural Items: Pedagogical Theory and Practice
Main Article Content
Abstract
This book review introduces Teaching the Translation of Cultural Items: Pedagogical Theory and Practice, written by Klaus Mundt. The book challenges the notion of "untranslatability" and proposes a pedagogical method for teaching cultural translation through threshold concepts. The author also combines cognition, emotion, and practice with the method through an interdisciplinary approach. There is a case study in the book among the graduate students that shows the transformation from literal language translation to a creative strategy and introduces many practical pedagogical tools. The volume emphasises that cultural translation is a teachable skill, offering a new approach to translation pedagogy that highlights the effective combination of theory and practice.
