Soberanía, representación e independencia en Caracas, 1808-1811

Abstract
This article a analyzes the impact of the political crisis suffered by the Spanish monarchy as felt in Caracas, where a strenous debate took place. In November 1808 the creation of a junta was attempted, buy wtithout success. On 19 April 1810 the Conservative Junta of the Rights of King Ferdinand VII was formed and, finally on 5 July 1811, Independence was declared. This article analyzes the content of the debate relating to the exercise of sovereignty, as well as how political representation was to be organized according to those who took charge and guided this historic process, from the beginning of the movement until the declaration of Independence.
