Abstract
La conmemoración del primer centenario del cruento asesinato del presidente Eloy Alfaro y otros líderes de su tendencia, acaecido en Quito, el 28 de enero de 1912, a manos de una turba enardecida, conmueve y agita la opinión pública del país como un indicador de que aquel atroz suceso continúa suscitando múltiples significados. A contrapelo de su desaparición, o quizá precisamente por ello, la figura de Alfaro está íntimamente asociada a una serie de transformaciones axiales que modelaron el advenimiento del Ecuador en el siglo XX…
