Abstract

The purpose of this article is reflecting over the new commercial geography of Latin America, with particular regard to the agreements executed with the United States. As a reaction to the regional and multilateral uncertainty, nowadays, a third group of international relations are prevailing: bilateral agreements. Although these treaties have different contents and obligations, in general, they imply more rigid commitments for developing countries in Latin America than those that derive from agreements celebrated within more ample negotiation forums such as the WTO.
