Abstract

This article develops a comparative analysis of the bilateral relations between Ecuador and the United States during the presidential administrations of Osvaldo Hurtado, Léon Febres Cordero, Rodrigo Borja, Sixto Durán-Ballén, Abdalá Bucaram, Fabián Alarcón and Jamil Ma-huad. The author explores the similarities and differences in the approaches of each administration in topics such as democracy, human rights, drugs, foreign debt, trade, and Ecuador-Peru bilateral relations.
