Abstract

This article reflects upon Colombia's international policy, its priorities and challenges. From a description of traditional Colombian diplomacy, the author studies the relations between Colombia and the U.S. during the latter part of the 20th century; a relationship marked by the war on drugs, 'and characterized by cyclical ups and downs. The article also evaluates the so called peace diplomacy, the conditions on which the Colombian peace process has been internationalized, and the need for establishing clear priorities for Colombian foreign policy in the future.
