TLC: vultures strike back
Keywords:
neoliberalism, globalization, capitalist logic, geopoliticsAbstract
This article conceives of free trade agreements as instruments aimed at weakening the state, opening markets, and reducing public expenditures. All of these outcomes are in turn informed by a logic which points towards deepening economic globalization and fostering neoliberal thinking. According to the author, contemporary free trade agreements are another feature of a US Strategy which seeks to respond to both the constitution of economic blocks such as the European Union and the slowdown of the WTO negotiations.
