The author, on the grounds of a quick recap of Latin American studies in the 20th century, makes some approximations at what will be the changes and challenges in the 21st century. For Whitehead, the need to study and understand the specific realities of Latin America, and to transmit this local knowledge to enrich universal knowledge, is not going to disappear in this century.
