Abstract

The author gives us a different view of Alfredo Pareja, as a regular visitor of the Cima Bookshop. in Quito, in the 70's. He reconstructs the generous friend, avid reader, erudite disciple of the greats, and presents the relationship between the already famous author and the owner of the bookshop, which was centered on friendship rather than book sales. He also mentions an interview in which Pareja insists that music be he Id as an art higher than literature. Other anecdotes add to this ¡mage and highlight Pareja Diezcanseco's human qualities.
