Tagua y plata: expresiones contemporáneas* (Zonas de contacto y zonas de macidez)
Keywords:
folklore, arts and crafts, silver, tagua, Ecuadorian literature, collective creationAbstract
With regard to this exposition of jewelry and ornamental objects made from tagua and silver, the author provides a brief account of the presence and significance of these two materials in Ecuadorian literature and folklore. He indicates that the sample proposes renewed perspectives as regards the colors, textures and design, in a correct amalgam of plant and mineral. The designs made of silver, at the same time refer to ancestral, magical elements, without forgetting the visual and tactile impact that they can produce. The conception of these jewels of creative collection therefore transcends the limits of the folkloric, and transforms them in a new aesthetic proposal.
