Evocation of Carlos Calderón Chico

Abstract
In this text, the author pays tribute to journalist, writer, editor and cultural manager Carlos Calderón Chico, who died in Guayaquil in early 2013. It focuses on the man, the human being, his intense and always controversial relationship with his environment, friends, and particularly his passion for books which led him on a mission of continuous searches and explorations to form a library that is a landmark in his hometown of Guayaquil and nationwide. The legacy of Calderón Chico is expressed –in the words of the autor– in addition to his actions in several cultural institutions, in the various titles that demonstrate what his work was as a cultural journalist, writer and anthologist.
