SUBMISSION STANDARDS FOR ARTICLES

Presentation and Structure of Manuscripts

Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively via the OJS platform. All authors must register with their credentials, although only one author will be responsible for correspondence.

Submissions should be in Times New Roman, 12-point font, single-spaced, fully justified, without tabs or carriage returns between paragraphs. Larger sections (such as author, title, abstract, descriptors, credits, and headings) are separated by a single return. Pages should have 2 cm margins on all sides. The file must be anonymized to prevent author identification.

Structure

Two files must be submitted simultaneously:

1) Cover letter

Authors must sign the cover letter format, declaring that:

  • The work is original and unpublished, and it has not been simultaneously submitted to any other journal or publisher.
  • The submission and potential publication comply with the Contributor Guidelines and the editorial policy of Andares: Revista de Derechos Humanos y de la Naturaleza.
  • Their participation involved a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, data analysis, text drafting and revisions, and final approval of the version attached.
  • All authors contributed substantially to the research.
  • In case of errors, they are obliged to provide retractions.
  • They provide the necessary information regarding financial support received.
  • Assignment of rights, conflict of interest declaration, and distribution.

2) Manuscript

Articles must follow a structure including: abstract, introduction, analysis/argument, and conclusion, offering a comprehensive treatment of a particular area of law. Articles should be formal in tone and provide substantiated support for information and analysis through consistent citation.

The first page of the manuscript should include the following:

  • Article title
  • Total word count
  • Number of bibliographic and case references, excluding national or international legislation (e.g., constitutions, laws, international instruments)
  • Full names of each author in order of contribution (justified by the topic’s complexity and extent; the field’s average is three authors). For more than three authors, a justification of the team’s original contribution is required, to be uploaded in PDF format alongside the article and cover letter.
  • Additionally, for each author:
    • Nationality
    • Highest academic degree
    • Current institutional academic affiliation, with city and country
    • Areas of specialization and research (up to 5 fields)
    • Institutional email
    • ORCID ID
    • A brief bio (up to 5 lines)
    • Phone number
    • Social media profiles, with links where applicable

Starting on the second page, the article should not include any author-identifying information and should contain:

  • Article Title (concise yet informative), in Spanish and then in English. A maximum of two lines (80 characters including spaces) is accepted. Titles are the responsibility of both the authors and editors; they may be adjusted if they do not accurately reflect the article’s content.
  • Abstract in Spanish (200–220 words), summarizing the research’s motivation, objectives, methodology, main results, and conclusions, structured as follows: topic justification, objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions. It should be written impersonally: “This work analyzes…”
  • Abstract in English (180–200 words), not to be created using automatic translators. Reviewers assess language quality as part of the review process.
  • Keywords: Eight keywords in both Spanish and English. Use the UNESCO Thesaurus where possible. Only in exceptional cases are new terms accepted, and they must conform to standardized scientific language in both Spanish and English.
